This story is alright--standard blue-stocking, boring-type girl manages to gain the affections of a really popular, handsome, but secretly unfulfiled/angsty guy. In short, amazing story and concept that never gets old for me--what can I say? I'm corny. If I'm being honest, though, I like the little side romance between the two protagonists' besties. I sometimes wish the book were about them instead, but oh well. This is the first book in a series, which is exciting if you liked it and want a bit of the same theme with new characters. Some Like It Sinful--the second in the series--is actually my personal favorite.Product details

Love her books...
I do enjoy an occasional predictable romance novel but this ending was rushed and a great disappointment. Don’t waste your time unless you like to trudge through an ending annoyed and bored.
Alexandra Ivy is one of the really amazing writers of fiction today. Great read with well-developed characters and an enticing plot and, and, and . . . A rake and a controlling business woman had no business doing business together or is it one smart move on the business woman’s part? Read it and enjoy the repartee and the gnashing of teeth. So much fun.
The story of Jane the wealthy spinster, who comes to London to find a husband , only to meet the rake, Hellion, was great fun. I enjoyed the plot, and the other characters, Lord Biddles and Anna were terrific additions to the tale. This book has light hearted innuendo laden banter, but also more depth of emotion than I expected. Lord Biddles added a bundle of intrigue, and Anna , comic relief. All in all I really enjoyed this 'Regency romp with heart' and plan to read the next in the series. I highly recommend.
I love regency romances! I've read some of this author's paranormal romances and liked them, but this is my first regency of hers. It had an intriguing premise - debutante conspires with rake to initiate a flirtation to increase her marriage prospects. The heroine, Miss Jane Middleton, was compelling - plain but smart, successful, and independent. The hero was also compelling - handsome, charming, and aristocratic. They had good chemistry. The storyline was entertaining although somewhat predictable. The author's writing style translated well to the regency genre - plenty of fun dialogue. Overall, I enjoyed it, and I look forward to reading more of her regencies.
